Not all journeys move from one location to another. Most don’t. All do, however, move us from the person we are to the person we will be. We’re all journeying. The important questions are: Where are you journeying to? Why are you journeying? With whom are you traveling?
The people of ORLC are on a journey. Seven years ago, we were a people who worshiped in an aging and cramped building, limited in our ability to reach out to more people with God’s power and grace. Then, one sunny spring day in 2011, we marched from that building to a new, spacious building from which we now minister to more people in Helena and beyond. Today, we continue to journey toward the people God calls us to be tomorrow and all the tomorrows after that. One small part of that journey is to finish what we started by paying off the loan that helped us arrive at 3580 North Benton. A much bigger part of our journey is to continue expanding our abilities to serve God.
That’s where we’re journeying: toward a future in which we are more attuned to God’s leading and more capable of following. Toward a future where we are able to reach ever more people with God’s love, a love that we have experienced in abundance. We journey because God calls us forward and because we know without a doubt that God wants to do great things through us and for us. We journey because our Lord journeyed to the cross, to the grave, and to a heavenly throne where He awaits our arrival. Finally, we journey together to strengthen, encourage, and comfort one another as we share our joys and sorrows. And we journey with God’s spirit, guiding and guarding.
Here’s the best part: God is inviting you to Join the Journey! He’s inviting you to walk along with us as we follow, as we share and experience the abundant life that comes only from communion with and obedience to God. From February to April, we will be preparing to re-energize, refocus, and recommit to this journey as a congregation. This time of preparation will officially kick off February 12th. It will culminate April 2nd with an opportunity to offer our new pledges of support—our continued support—to our payments on the building loan and to our new five-year plan for communal spiritual growth as we journey into the future.
Please make plans to join with your fellow travelers on Sunday, February 12 or Wednesday, February 15 for our kick-off festivities. Watch for more information about upcoming special events and about our plans for the journey.

Lenten Small Groups
This Lenten season, we will be hosting a congregation wide study of the book “The Way Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus” by Adam Hamilton. This book helps us to more clearly understand the connection between Jesus’ ministry our own faith journey. We will gather in small groups during the week and then on Sunday worship reflect on our learning as our pastors focus on each of the chapters in their sermon time.
We hope you will join us! In the days ahead, we will post sign-up sheets for you to choose a small group that fits your schedule. The books will be available the week ahead of Ash Wednesday (March 1).
